Event large

A video installation using a webcam and RaspberryPi to detect and track faces in a crowd scenario. No faces are logged, and the installation is completely offline. Projected on to a large screen, it acts as a “screensaver” in between talks on the main speaker’s stage. Biases in the OpenCV machine vision algorithm are exposed as some people are detected while others are not.

This video installation uses a webcam and RaspberryPi to detect and track faces of attendees at Cryptorave in a large crowd scenario. Biases in the OpenCV machine vision algorithm are exposed as some people are detected while others are not. No faces are logged, and the installation is completely offline. This installation will require a projector. It could fit in well as a “screensaver” in between talks in the main speaker’s stage, creating an interactive live-art environment. This project is an expansion on my installation from the 2017 Cryptorave, “An Averaging Mirror”.
